Returning to Barcelona, he finished his university studies with a final project, where he wrote a thesis with a modern, short double bass method and started his own trio (the Nuno Campos trio).

The Nuno Campos Trio has won first prize at the Barcelona Jazz Competition. With his trio and original compositions, he made his first record with the prestigious “Fresh Sound New Talent” label, entitled "My Debut For The Ones Close To Me”.
