He began his studies at the Maia Conservatory in 2002 under Adam Wierzba and António Rosa. The following year, he transferred to the Porto Conservatory, where he studied under Adam Wierzba until 6th Level, with a final score of 19 points (on a scale of 1 to 20). He also took a free course at ESMAE - Higher Institute of Music and the Performing Arts in 2008 with Iva Barbosa. Also in 2008, he was accepted for his Bachelor's Degree in Music, Clarinet Performance, at the University of Minho under Professor Vítor Matos. He graduated in 2011 with a final score of 17 points (on a scale of 1 to 20). In 2015, he completed his Master's Degree in Music Teaching at the same university.
He has taken part in masterclasses with a number of national and international clarinet players, of note being Vitor Matos, António Saiote, Nuno Pinto, António Rosa, Iva Barbosa, Vítor Pereira, Alessandro Carbonare, Harri Mäki, François Benda, Matthias Schörn and Tibor Reman.
He has also worked with maestros including Vitor Matos, Pedro Neves, Kamen Goleminov, Tim Steiner, Jan Cober, Douglas Bostock, Francisco Ferreira, Nicholas Kok, Toby Hoffman, Fernando Marinho, and others.
He currently teaches the clarinet at Curso de Música Silva Monteiro.
